Cosmetic surgery for men: Common treatments

Comprehensive aesthetic medicina

The month of November has been associated with men since the start of the Movember campaign for male health awareness started in 2003. In regard to cosmetic treatment, more and more men are deciding to look after themselves and “grow old gracefully”, with their own cosmetic aspirations.

That’s why, at Nordetia, we are going to talk about some of the most common cosmetic treatments among men and explain a little more about them.

Hair transplants

There are three techniques for hair transplants.

FUE Technique

This is the most advanced treatment out there. The FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technique is done by extracting follicular units one by one from the donor area (having previously administered a local anaesthetic), to then make incisions into the receiving area and implant follicle by follicle. It is a minimally invasive procedure and does not require hospitalization.

Capiled Photolaser Technology

Capiled Photolaser Technology causes capillary photo-stimulation, revitalising weaker hair follicles and stimulating blood flow in the area.

It is done by using a LED light which passes through the skin and causes a biochemical reaction which helps the body’s cells, including the capillaries, to reactivate.

Hair mesotherapy

Hair mesotherapy causes a cutaneous transdermal stimulation of the stem cells of the bulb and boosts the activation of growth factors, leading to more hair growth and hair strength.

It is done using asepsis and local anaesthesia, making small injections with a small needle into the scalp, administering capillary vitamins, growth elements, and medication such as Dutasteride, etc.

Non-Surgical Facelift

3D face, neck and chest skin rejuvenation, also known as a non-surgical facelift or cervical anchorage is a treatment that stretches the skin without any surgical treatment required.

It involves applying a type of collagen, by means of a special design that helps to reduce wrinkles and firms the skin. It helps to restructure the oval of the face and to firm up the skin on the neck and chest. A product that helps with the direct formation of collagen is used, or hyaluronic acid is administered which also encourages chemical collagen production.

Facial masculinisation

Facial masculinisation is a treatment used to define a man’s facial features. This is a nonsurgical technique which is done by injecting hyaluronic acid, a natural component of the skin which can be modified or replenished to achieve the desired result.

This surgical treatment aims to rejuvenate the eyes and remove any signs of tiredness around this area, removing excess skin from the upper eyelids and the eye bags below the lower eyelids, when necessary. The lower eyelid is usually operated on to treat eye bags.

Otoplasty is a surgical technique that aims to replace, remodel, or reduce the size of the ears. It is a simple procedure with immediate results and corrects the position and shape of the ears. It usually involves a minimal incision being made behind the ear to then sculpt the cartilage and fold the ears backwards. However, the procedure differs based on each individual case and the issue that needs to be addressed.

Known as gynecomastia this is a surgical procedure to remove excess tissue around the male breasts, improving the appearance of their chest. This surgical procedure is done under general anaesthetic, or local anaesthetic and sedation. It involves a small incision being made around the areola to remove the excess glandular tissue, fat, and excess skin.

Abdominal etching

3D liposculpture, also known as abdominal etching, is a surgical procedure aimed at comprehensively remodelling the body, achieving a very defined appearance. It is done by extracting excess fat in both in specific areas and in general.
