Crows feet: rejuvenate your eyes

Comprehensive aesthetic medicina

While crows feet are a natural part of the ageing process, there are various options to combat them and keep your eyes looking young.

That’s why, at Nordetia we are going to provide you with all of the information you need on crows feet and possible treatments.

What are crows feet?

Crows feet are small wrinkles which appear beside our eyes. They appear when we make facial expressions, such as smiling or crying, which is why there are also referred to as expression lines.

Why do they appear?

Our lifestyle (tobacco use, poor diet, etc.) can have an influence on the appearance of crows feet, however, there are two main causes:

One of the signs of ageing is crows feet, they are one of the first types of wrinkles to appear on our face. In fact, they can start appearing around the age of 20.

This is why it is so important to look after the skin on our face, especially around the eyes, before the first expression lines start to appear as crows feet.

There are people who are more biologically prone to crows feet. It is also common to copy the gestures and expressions of our parents, which can also lead to crows feet forming.

How to rejuvenate our eyes

It is important to play the long game and adapt treatments to the skin type, age, etc.

Next, we are going to talk about some of the treatments provided by Nordetia to combat crows feet in the medical plans we have designed to help reduce the signs of ageing.

Medical chemical peels

Medical chemical peels essentially involve applying a chemical agent to alter and renovate the skin’s deepest structures, done using an anaesthetic.

It is a completely safe procedure for reducing crows feet and usually only needs one session to achieve the desired results.

Botulinum Toxin

Botulinum toxin is a natural protein which relaxes the muscles and regulates the tension in our facial expressions. It is a potent neurotoxin that inhibits the secretion of acetylcholine in the synapse between the neuromuscular joints, blocking off the nerve ends and relaxing the muscular mobility.

Our livers quickly metabolize the botulinum toxin, meaning the effects last for around four months. After this time the neuron regrows, permitting muscular movement once again.

The application of botulinum toxin is one of our treatments used to fight crows feet. There are four factors to bear in mind, which are the dilution, doses, reconstitution, and injection technique.

Botulinum toxin treatment is done per motor units: the frown, made up of the procerus muscle and two corrugator muscles, each side, meaning that there are usually five injection points.

Specifically, when it comes to crows feet, which appear outside of the eye, two or three injection points are used. This helps to make our eyes look more attractive without restricting the capacity to express our surprise or happiness.

Latest generation hyaluronic acid

The latest generation hyaluronic acid, such as Sisthaema Hevo T, combines the hydrating properties of this substance with an innovative new capacity to form collagen.

This hyaluronic acid deeply hydrates and improves the quality of the skin, instantly causing a natural lifting effect. This is without having to add any extra volume to the face, and without any typical side effects.

The Sisthaema Hevo T treatment is done by injection, with the smallest size needles on the market. The substance is applied in six strategic points, with the hope of providing an immediate effect. Over the next few days, you will be able to see how the tissue becomes firmer.

Plasma technology

Plasma technology is a new innovative and safe treatment for crows eyes. It is an effective and non-invasive treatment that uses a combined anaesthesia.

A device is used that delivers a similar effect to laser, as controlled heat is applied to the area, without any serious burning. The laser plasma treatment is used on the skin’s surface, without causing any damage to the deeper skin layers, thus preventing the appearance of scars.

The results are almost instant, and it is essentially a painless treatment that allows patients to get straight back into their daily routines.

Can they be prevented?

It is important to follow these tips to prevent the appearance of crows feet and to develop your own personal care plan.

  • Look after the skin around your eyes from a young age.
  • Keep a balanced diet, which includes lots of antioxidants (carrots, red peppers, tomatoes, cranberries, etc.).
  • Avoid spending too long in the sun during the hottest and most intense sun hours.
  • Use sun protection on your face.
  • Protect the skin on your face with an antiwrinkle cream specially designed for eyes.
  • Try not to drink too many fizzy drinks.
  • Don’t smoke and try not to be in direct contact with tobacco smoke, to prevent your eyes from becoming irritated and ageing.
